Dear Nalandabodhi Halifax Members and Friends,
Tomorrow, Friday March 21, 2008, is the day our
teacher the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche has envisioned to be marked and
celebrated as Buddhist Day. This is an international day of
recognition, identity and appreciation in practicing the teachings and
example of Shakyamnui Buddha. Buddhist Day is the day we can take pride
in practicing the Buddha's message of joy, peace, loving kindness and
equanimity for all sentient beings.
Many auspicious aspects mark the day, the spring
exuinox, a full moon, Good Friday and the Buddha's Enlightenment Day
(according to mahayana Buddhism.) May many blessings come forth from
this auspicious day!
St. Margaret's Bay Shambhala Centre in Tantallon
will be having a practise from 5:30-6:35 p.m. on Buddhist day. You are
all warmly
invited to attend. There will be meditation and contemplations
presented by Ms.Theresa Milligan, director of SMBSC and Ms. Jigme
Urbonas of Nalandabodhi and Shambhala. More information about
this event is available at www.buddhistday.com
While no formal activity is planned by Nalandabodhi
Halifax this year, we aspire to celebrate this event in the future.
Please consider the meaning of the day as you go about your practice,
study, and all your daily activities tomorrow. Please also consider
what we may do together in the future to benefit our fellow sentient
beings in real, practical ways right here in our community. We
celebrate and rejoice in the virtue others have gathered and in which
we find connection and inspiration. Cheerful Buddhist Day!
Best wishes,
Paul Hannon
